Introduction to the department.

The department of Urology is situated on the second floor of main building of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. It comprises of 14 male & 7 female beds. The private rooms of the floor can also be used for urological patients.

The unit comprises of a consultant, a senior registrar and a RMO. It has twice weekly OPD, operation sessions & ward days. The theatre is situated in G.O.T. & Urological theatre has two operating tables. Both endourlogical including TURP, TUIP,TURB-T cystoscopy, lithotomy retrograde cathertherization etc. are performed besides all the open operations of urology. Theater is equipped with latest instruments, for surgery as well as monitoring during emergency.

Urology department is actively involved in teaching of both undergraduate & postgraduate students. The department is recognized for FCPS training.

Urology department is also active in clinical meeting. The last monthly meeting of PAUS, was held in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. In the past it has hosted the meeting of Pakistan Society of Nephro Urology as well. The department is endeavoring to acquire lithotriposy.
