Introduction to the department.

The department of Medicine at KMDC consists of three General Medical units, and three allied units of Psychiatry, Dermatology and Cardiology situated at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, the teaching Hospital of KMDC. The total bed strength of Medicine and allied is 170.

TEACHING PROGRAM
The department teaches to the MBBS & BDS students. The teaching includes lectures, tutorials and clinical rotations in the various units.in view of the very convenient students-teacher ratio and student to patient ratio, the department is justifiably proud that the results in final prof. MBBS examinations carried out by the University of Karachi. are the boat in Karachi as faras General Medicine is concerned.

FACILITIES
Apart from the abundance of general material available to the students by way of patients, the students have access to internet, library etc. The department has its own semenar room for lectures and symposium.

POSTGRADUATE TEACHING
The department is recognized by the college of physicians and surgeons Pakistan, and the Royal college of physicians of the united kingdom for the purpose of training, reading to the FCPS and MRCP. The department inducts residents and postgraduates students for the same, who are exposed to all varieties of patients. In addition regular teaching rounds, symposium, guest lecture and mortality morbidity meetings are held. In all such activities under graduates students are encouraged to participate
